How to acheive proper Hydration

There is some debate regarding the best way to hydrate your body. For a long time the whole 8 glasses a day thing was the accepted protocol, but these days more and more experts are questioning how exactly was this established? And does this magic formula apply to everyone?

Those involved with the renesance of a new water paradigm, have put forth some pretty convincing and rather inspiring ideas around the topics of cellular hydration and the  research exploring the quantum properties of Water.

But before we get ahead of ourselves let’s saturate in the following ideas;

Minerals are at the building blocks level of our structure, our iextracellular fluid systems and  the processes that occur within each cell. Minerals lend themselves to the electrical signals used by such body systems as the nervous system, the immune system and even the connective tissue. Not only is it crucial to monitor our mineral status for these reasons, but it is worth noting that our body can synthesize most of its own vitamins but not minerals, so it is vital that we consume them through our diet. So how does this relate to hydration?

Well infact it is for this reason that “electrolyte” sports drinks have been popular in the past to assist hydration and recovery, but now as awareness grows regarding the negative effects of excess sugar, artificial sweeteners and colours, more and more research is suggesting that there’s a better way- as Nature intended-and that is to use minerals in the form of naturally occuring sources of salt. Unrefined and minimally processed salt such as Celtic sea salt or the popular use of Himalayan pink rock salt are loaded with a diverse spectrum of bio available (easy to absorb) trace minerals. Unlike table salt which is just sodium and chloride salts, natural salts are unlikely to cause high blood pressure but consult with your treating physician.

Other ideas suggest that sipping water all day is not ideal as it can slowly dilute your mineral to water ratio, causing undesirable symptoms such as low energy, headaches and difficulty concentrating. So instead, drink when you feel thirsty or when being conscious to stay hydrated, take a moment to relax and enjoy a reasonable amount of clean water and even add a pinch of high quality to salt to create your own elecrolyte solution. I’ve said many times in my clinic that hydration is not about consuming large amounts of water but more about the amount you efficiently absorb into your cells.

Another eye opening discovery pushing the boundries of bio physical science is that Water when flowing freely in nature, as when dropping from a waterfall or rushing across small clusters of rocks in river beds, has 2 special qualities;

1/ it has a unique “structure” (referred to as the 4th phase of water)

2/ it is “charged” and alive, as a result of electrons being generated by the constant flowing movement in the natural ecosystem…. something that doesnt happen in today’s world when we turn on the tap!

Both these properties make water much more compatible with our own internal environment which leads to more effective hydration, increased energy and improved detoxification.

There are other incredibly profound properties of water being researched including water having its own memory-it can be programmed with words and intentions (explaining the ritual of “Holy water”), and even that water has the ability to carry the vibrations and frequencies of the sounds and music it is exposed to.

These facts have enormous impact if you now consider that your body is entirely infused with and made up of mineralised “living” water. Being mindful of our words, our thoughts, our environments, our movements and the music or entertainment we are exposed to may actually have significant implication on how we feel (known in ancient medical sciences as our water body) and how well our cells are hydrated.
